Study Committee's Mission
The Windsor Southeast Study Committee has been charged with the task of identifying a merger opportunity that meets the following criteria:
1. Supports the ongoing collaborative work of all four towns;
2. Remains consistent with current state law;
3. Provides a strong likelihood of voter support in all four towns.
What are the options?
Unified Union School District: A single board of school directors representing all the districts that make up Windsor Southeast responsible for the PreK-12 education of all students; New Regional High School; Voluntary elimination of school choice.
2 x 2 Side-by-Side Supervisory Union: West Windsor and Windsor form one unified PreK-12 district. Hartland and Weathersfield form a unified PreK-8 district with high school choice; Albert Bridge matriculates its students to Windsor Middle/High School.
3 x 1 Supervisory Union: (Requires Legislative Action to Receive Incentives) Hartland, Weathersfield, and West Windsor form a unified PreK-8 or PreK-6 district with middle and/or high school choice. Windsor remains as it is.
Alternative Plan: Petition to maintain Windsor Southeast's existing supervisory union structure; or to modify Windsor Southeast's existing supervisory union with the "fewest school districts practicable" (Merger between Hartland and Weathersfield; or an Alternative structure defined by Statewide Plan (2018).
